Tanedo Residence
- City-center home powered by a fully self-reliant grid-tied solar system that eliminates monthly bills.
- System Size: 5.40 kWp
- Completion: 2-Mar-2017
- Gerona, Tarlac City, Philippines
Project Summary
Retirement should mean financial stability, not monthly anxiety over electricity bills. For the Tañedo family in the city center, rising grid rates were steadily eroding their fixed income – a problem with no obvious solution short of moving or cutting consumption.
Solaren designed a 5.40kWp grid-tied system sized around their actual load profile, fully compliant with net metering requirements. The installation uses SMA Germany inverter technology paired with Sunova bifacial panels – equipment specified for longevity, not just upfront cost.
The system generates 7,965kWh annually and has delivered consistent zero-bill results since commissioning in March 2017. Payback was achieved on schedule. Since then, the family keeps roughly ₱95,580 per year that previously went straight to the utility.
Eight years on, the system runs exactly as designed. No inverter issues, no panel replacements, no service calls. That kind of long-term reliability doesn’t happen by accident – it comes from correct equipment selection, proper installation, and a contractor who will still be around if anything ever needs attention.
This project is one of our earliest net metering approvals in a dense urban setting, demonstrating that grid connection and compliance work just as cleanly in city center locations as in industrial zones.
