Rosario Residence

Project Summary

The client is a Filipino engineer working in Saudi Arabia. The brief was simple: by the time he retires and comes home to Tagaytay City, he should not have to think about electricity.

Solaren designed a 9.79 kWp grid-tied system using two SMA Germany SMA 5.0 inverters and Trina Solar Vertex modules, configured around the home’s actual load profile and sized to generate a consistent Meralco net metering surplus. Tagaytay’s elevation and relatively stable irradiance work in the system’s favour. The surplus accumulates month on month.

For a home that sits unoccupied for extended periods, that dynamic works particularly well. Generation continues whether anyone is home or not, the credits build up, and the practical electricity bill stays at zero. When the owner eventually comes back permanently, the energy side of his retirement is already settled.

Remote monitoring through SMA ennexOS and Sunny Portal means he can check system performance from Riyadh with the same ease as from his living room. The system has been running since August 2020 and has fully returned capital.

For properties that are not your primary residence, understanding what net metering actually requires from day one is the difference between a system that works for you and one that simply generates uncredited electricity.
