Angeles Ice Plant
- Industrial Ice Production Facility
- System Size: 146.40 kWp
- Completion: 18 June 2019
Project Summary
The Angeles Ice Plant project shows how solar energy could be used to power one of the most energy-consuming businesses in the Philippines. Ice production is 24 hours a day and requires a high refrigeration capacity, resulting in high and constant electricity demands. The installation was not easy, and various voltage requirements were needed throughout the facility. The roof layout also presented some additional obstacles, and the design had to accommodate irregular spaces and meet specific structural requirements. To maximize output, the system was equipped with several advanced SMA inverters that can accommodate several MPPTs to tune the various strings into a maximum output. The result is a high-output solar installation that compensates a large portion of the daytime consumption of the plant. In the case of Angeles, the system offers substantial cost savings and operational stability, along with a stable long-term hedge against constantly rising grid tariffs.
