The project of 3K Hotel highlights the power of the potential of solar to provide high returns even in places with a small amount of roof space. The facility is a multi-purpose hotel and function venue, with a constant daytime and evening load, providing a stable demand profile highly compatible with solar integration. The roof size posed a challenge, being smaller than the size of the roof, the system had limited footprint and had to be optimized in terms of layout and capacity carefully. Nevertheless, despite this drawback, the installation has already met all the standards of net metering and currently subsidizes a significant segment of the hotel’s monthly electricity expenses. The constant occupancy of guest rooms, kitchens, and function areas guarantees rapid ROI, and the system is very efficient at cutting the operating costs and proving the positive impact of switching to renewable energy in the hospitality industry.
