Atlantic Grains
- Grain Milling and Storage
- System Size: 1460.00 kWp
- Completion: 23-Sep-2023
Project Summary
Atlantic Grains operates the largest grain importing, processing, and storage facility in the Philippines. Located in Calaca, Batangas on the coast, the site runs massive silos, conveyor systems, drying equipment, and warehousing around the clock. Peak demand reaches 1,241 kW. Electricity is not a background expense here; it is a core input to the national food supply chain, and any instability in supply has direct consequences.
The engineering brief was demanding on multiple fronts. At 1,460 kWp this is the largest installation in Solaren’s portfolio, requiring ten SMA Germany STP110-60 CORE2 inverters deployed across the facility. The coastal environment drove additional design constraints: equipment selection, mounting, and protection specifications had to account for salt air, humidity, and port facility exposure. The local utility supply is erratic, making inverter-level monitoring through SMA ennexOS and robust system architecture non-negotiable from the outset. Trina Solar Vertex modules were specified for their proven performance in demanding outdoor conditions.
The system now generates 2,153,500 kWh annually, saving PHP 23.6 million per year against a 3.2-year payback. Lifetime savings are projected at over PHP 610 million.
For large industrial operators where grid reliability cannot be taken for granted, industrial solar power systems designed for the actual site conditions deliver results that generic installations cannot.
