Gene Residence
- Zero-Billing Solar Carport Powers Entire Home
- System Size: 15.26 kWp
- Completion: 14-Dec-2022
- Concepcion, Tarlac, Philippines
Project Summary
For a professional couple building their family home from scratch in Concepcion, Tarlac, the brief had two requirements: zero billing, and nothing on the main roof.
The carport solved both. Solaren designed a purpose-built solar carport that covers parking for two vehicles and carries the full generation load for the household. The structure keeps the architectural lines of the new build clean while concentrating the entire installation in one accessible location. It is also the kind of feature that earns its keep twice every day regardless of whether the sun is shining.
Two SMA Germany SB6.0 inverters handle the generation from Trina Solar Glass-Glass Bifacial modules. The bifacial glass-glass specification was a deliberate choice for a young family whose energy needs will grow. Degradation rates are lower, humidity tolerance is higher, and the panels are built to outlast the mortgage.
Monitoring runs through SMA ennexOS and Sunny Portal. From day one, the family has had full visibility of exactly what the system is producing and what it is saving.
For anyone planning a new build, net metering registration is worth building into the project timeline from the start rather than treating it as an afterthought after handover.
