J Poon Realty
- Storage and Processing Warehouse + Offices
- System Size: 200.56 kWp
- Completion: 18-May-2023
- Calamba, Laguna, Philippines
Project Summary
Poon Realty is the property and infrastructure arm behind Atlantic Grains, one of the Philippines’ largest food supply networks. The Calamba facility handles storage, processing, and distribution at scale, with conveyors, handling systems, and warehouse operations drawing a 170.48 kW peak daytime load across a site where any disruption to power affects not just one business but the food supply chain it serves.
Integrating a 200.56 kWp solar system into an active industrial facility of this kind requires more than roof space and inverters. The existing electrical infrastructure had to be assessed, utility specifications met, and the installation sequenced to avoid any interruption to operations that run continuously. Five SMA Germany STP110 CORE2 inverters were deployed across the array, with Trina Solar Vertex modules selected for the output density the roof area demanded.
Commissioned in May 2023 and generating over 295,000 kWh annually, the system delivers more than ₱3.2 million in yearly savings on a 3.5 year payback, bringing long-term cost predictability to an operation where margin management is a daily discipline.
For large food storage and distribution facilities, industrial solar power systems in the Philippines need to be specified and installed without touching the supply chain they are there to protect.
