Gray's Residence

Project Summary

For a retired expatriate settling permanently in Luna, La Union, the electricity brief was straightforward: significant savings, long-term reliability, and a system built to last without constant attention. Northern Luzon grid supply can be erratic, and for someone on a fixed retirement income, unpredictable bills are not acceptable.

Solaren specified SMA Germany SB6.0 inverter technology paired with Sunova Solar bifacial modules, monitored via SMA ennexOS. The system has delivered consistent savings since July 2024 with no reliability issues, performing exactly as designed across the coastal La Union climate.

The installation was also pre-engineered for battery storage integration from day one. The owner views storage as a long-term essential rather than an optional upgrade, and the system architecture already accommodates it without requiring redesign when the time comes.

For expatriates retiring to provincial locations where grid reliability is variable and long-term cost certainty matters, energy storage solutions planned into the original design deliver far better outcomes than retrofitting storage onto a system not built to handle it.
