Liwayway Marketing Corporation (Oishi) Cebu
- Food Production, Manufacturing
- System Size: 719.80 kWp
- Completion: 22-Oct-2025
Project Summary
Liwayway Marketing Corporation (Oishi) runs its Cebu plant in Liloan to supply snack products across the central and southern Visayas. The facility operates intensive production shifts with cooking lines, packaging systems, and refrigeration drawing over 600 kW at peak. At a plant running these loads every day, the financial argument for solar is clear. The engineering argument turned out to be more demanding.
The electrical brief at Cebu extended well beyond a standard grid-tied installation. Utility interconnection at this site required persistent compliance work to resolve, and power factor correction was included in the scope. Both were delivered. Five SMA Germany STP110 CORE2 inverter units were deployed and integrated across the facility’s connection points, each configured to support the site’s power quality requirements in addition to generating clean energy. The system that resulted does not just offset grid draw. It actively improves how the facility sits on the network.
At 719.80 kWp the Cebu plant is one of the larger installations in Solaren’s Visayas portfolio, and its commissioning in late 2025 extends the Oishi solar footprint to a third major region. For manufacturers dealing with utility compliance complexity and power factor penalties, this project is a useful reference. The technical detail behind grid-tied solar and power factor management is covered in Solaren’s article on power factor and grid-tied solar in commercial systems. This installation forms part of the growing solar engagement between Liwayway Marketing Corporation (Oishi) and Solaren Renewable Energy Solutions Corp.
