Liwayway Marketing Corporation (Oishi) Iloilo
- Snack Foods Production Hub
- System Size: 410.40 kWp
- Completion: 11-Sep-2023
- Pavia, Iloilo, Philippines
Project Summary
Liwayway Marketing Corporation (Oishi) operates its Visayas production hub in Pavia, Iloilo. The facility supplies snack products across the central and western regions of the country, with cooking, packaging, storage, and logistics operations running through the day. Electricity demand here is steady and substantial, and the Visayas grid carries its own pricing pressures. The business case for solar at this site followed the same logic that had already been proven at Imus.
Solaren designed and installed a grid-tied solar system across the Iloilo facility, handling utility compliance and the multi-meter configuration that a large manufacturing site requires. SMA Germany STP110 CORE2 inverters were used throughout, consistent with the technology standard established at other Liwayway facilities, and Trina Solar Vertex modules were specified for their output performance in the Visayas climate. The system was commissioned on schedule and integrated without disrupting production.
The Iloilo project demonstrates that the economics of large-scale food manufacturing solar work equally well outside Luzon. With a facility this size generating hundreds of thousands of kilowatt-hours annually, the payback period is competitive and the long-term savings are material. The role that installations like this play in supporting sustainable manufacturing is examined in Solaren’s article on industrial solar power systems in sustainable manufacturing. The Iloilo installation is part of the multi-facility solar project between Liwayway Marketing Corporation (Oishi) and Solaren Renewable Energy Solutions Corp.
