Rivera Residence
- Residential Solar for Day Use and Export Offset
- System Size: 26.16 kWp
- Completion: 14-Dec-2022
- Concepcion, Tarlac, Philippines
Project Summary
This modern bungalow was designed from the outset to take full advantage of solar generation during the day and grid interaction. The residence features a clean, integrated grid-tied solar system, including a front-facing canopy constructed with bifacial solar panels. This configuration maximizes energy yield while serving a practical architectural function, making efficient use of available space without altering the home’s visual character.
System sizing and orientation were carefully planned to prioritize daytime offset, allowing the household’s primary electrical loads to be carried by solar generation during operating hours. Excess energy is exported to the grid through net metering, generating credits that offset evening consumption and improve overall system economics.
As a result of this high-yield design, the system achieved a rapid return on investment and has now fully recovered its original capital cost. The ongoing operation effectively provides the household with free electricity while continuing to deliver predictable performance and low reliance on grid power.
This project follows the same design logic described for how bifacial solar panels increase energy yield, using reflective surfaces and canopy geometry to capture additional generation without increasing the roof footprint.
