Sun City Hotel Phase II BESS
- Commercial BESS with Peak Shaving
- System Size: 127.00 kWp
- Completion: 1-Oct-2026
Project Summary
Sun City Hotel in Tarlac City has added a 143 kWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to its existing SMA solar installations, continuing a multi-phase investment in reducing hotel electricity costs.
Solaren integrated a Sunsynk three-phase hybrid inverter using its GEN port for AC coupling, retaining the original SMA equipment while capturing solar electricity previously exported to the grid.
The system’s principal commercial objective is peak demand shaving. Battery discharge is programmed around the hotel’s measured electricity consumption, reducing maximum-demand charges and increasing the value of its own solar generation.
The BESS also supports hotel loads during outages, with automatic generator starting for extended interruptions. Grid charging is reserved as a last resort rather than routine operation.
This latest upgrade demonstrates how existing commercial solar systems can be expanded into hybrid installations without replacing their original generating equipment.
