Rivera Agro Industrial
- Hog Farm w/ Grower and Finisher Houses
- System Size: 75.21 kWp
- Completion: 22-Aug-2024
Project Summary
Rivera Agro Industrial runs a large piggery that supports pumps, ventilation, and a waste management system, which is power-hungry. Power consumption constitutes a considerable portion of the overhead on the farm, and reliability is critical in the welfare of animals and in the regulation of the environment. The farm was already invested in a biogas plant, which converted waste into energy. Yet, the management was willing to take it further and incorporate solar energy to reduce the costs and diversify its supply. Solaren engineered a grid-tied solar system that would supplement the already existing biogas system, and the monitoring will make both sources complementary. This two-purpose approach to renewable energy will decrease dependence on the grid, reduce bills, and enhance the farm’s environmental credentials. For Rivera, solar plus biogas means smoother operations, fewer fluctuations in costs, and operational durability in a challenging industry, which confirms that sustainable operations in a commercial piggery can be achieved without compromising productivity.
