Holy Angel University

Project Summary

Holy Angel University is the largest private university in Central Luzon, with over 21,000 students on a single campus in the heart of Angeles City. A campus at that scale runs a load profile that spans classrooms, laboratories, administrative offices, event facilities, and student areas simultaneously, drawing over 150 kW at peak across a site that operates on an academic calendar rather than a standard commercial schedule.

That calendar is precisely why net metering was essential to the design. A university runs hard during term time and draws comparatively little during semestral breaks and summer. Without net metering, generation during low-occupancy periods would be wasted. With it, the surplus feeds back to the grid and offsets consumption when the campus fills again. Solaren structured the installation around that cycle, ensuring the university captures full value from every kilowatt-hour the arrays produce across the academic year.

This 178.68 kWp system is one of three rooftop arrays Solaren has installed across the HAU campus, collectively serving the full range of university operations. Together they generate over 263,000 kWh annually from this array alone, delivering nearly ₱2.9 million in yearly savings.

For large educational institutions with variable occupancy patterns, net metering in the Philippines is not optional. It is what makes the numbers work.
