Don Jose Poultry Farm
- Layer & Broiler Poultry Complex Solar System
- System Size: 75.24 kWp
- Completion: 26-Jun-2024
Project Summary
Don Jose runs layer and broiler operations on the same site, and the two have different electrical personalities. Layers need consistent lighting on long cycles and steady ventilation around the clock. Broilers push ventilation demand hard as they approach harvest weight. Managing both from a single grid connection on a weak cooperative line was creating problems before solar was ever part of the conversation.
Voltage fluctuation was the dominant issue, but it was not the only one. The farm’s own engineers had been working through a range of power quality problems that were shortening equipment life and adding unpredictable maintenance costs to an already tight margin business. Solaren worked directly with those engineers to identify and resolve the underlying issues as part of the installation scope, not as an afterthought.
The 75.24kWp system was laid out across multiple roof orientations, with sub-arrays configured around the shading profile of each house and cable runs kept short to minimise losses. Net metering was established building by building.
The outcome went beyond bill reduction. Equipment lifetimes improved once the power quality issues were resolved, and the farm now runs on a cost base that is both lower and more predictable. At over ₱100,000 in monthly savings, the financial case is clea but for Don Jose, the cleaner grid environment may prove just as valuable over the long term. This is what a well-executed industrial solar power systems for farms project delivers when the engineer goes beyond the panel count.
