McDonalds
- Quick Service Restaurant Solar Retrofit
- System Size: 68.00 kWp
- Completion: 1-Sep-2022
- Paniqui, Tarlac, Philippines
Project Summary
McDonald’s is one of the most renowned brands worldwide, serving thousands of customers in the Philippines. The operation of a quick-service restaurant implies working with high-value electrical bills, food cooking appliances, and refrigerators, extensive air conditioning systems that render the eating areas comfortable in the tropical climate. One of the significant overheads is energy, and the cost can be high due to rising demand. To mitigate this, Solaren installed a grid-tied rooftop solar system in one of McDonald’s flagship stores. The system was to serve a significant portion of the heavy dayload, and the net meter guarantees that the value is not lost during off-peak hours. The installation is silent and can be installed in the background, which reduces costs and does not interfere with operations. In the case of McDonald’s, the savings are not the only outcome of the investment: this example shows that even international corporations can introduce renewable energy to localized businesses, which will allow function effectively and strengthen their adherence to the principles of sustainability.
