Philippine Bobbin Corporation (Imperial Tobacco PLC)

Project Summary

Philippine Bobbin Corporation’s 483.96 kWp installation in Rosario, Cavite was designed around the operating load of the factory and runs primarily as a self-consumption system. The project was commissioned under a zero-export arrangement, so generation above the plant load is curtailed rather than sent to the grid. In practice, curtailment is limited because the system was deliberately sized close to the factory’s daytime demand.

A dedicated meter at the site entrance records on-site solar generation. Philippine Bobbin is discussing with PEZA the possibility of moving to a DER arrangement; this remains a discussion rather than an approved change to the system’s operating arrangement.

For Philippine Bobbin, the 483.96 kWp installation had to satisfy both the PEZA site’s requirements and the governance standards of Imperial Tobacco PLC. Solaren’s account of delivering solar for foreign-owned facilities discusses this project directly. Within that framework, industrial solar design focused on serving the factory’s daytime load under a zero-export arrangement, making the production profile and electrical integration central to the installation.
