Zen Hotel
- Hotel with Function Room Support
- System Size: 35.64 kWp
- Completion: 3-Jul-2016
Project Summary
Hotels don’t switch off. Guest rooms, restaurant operations, function spaces, and back-of-house systems run continuously, and the air conditioning load alone is substantial across a Santiago City summer. For Zen Hotel, that constant daytime consumption profile is actually ideal for solar, almost every kilowatt-hour generated is consumed directly on site.
The installation spans multiple buildings, which required careful coordination of roof space, electrical connections, and load balancing across the full property. Net metering was built into the compliance framework from the start, ensuring that surplus generation returns value rather than going to waste during quieter periods.
Capital was recovered by early 2020. The system has now delivered nearly five years of pure savings since payback, running reliably across the full hotel operation without interruption.
For hospitality businesses carrying heavy continuous loads across multiple buildings, commercial solar energy systems designed around the actual consumption profile of the property deliver returns that a generic single-building specification cannot match.
