BHF Appliances
- Appliance Retailer with Multi-Store Rollout
- System Size: 16.92 kWp
- Completion: 16-May-2013
- Guimba, Nueva Ecija, Philippines
Project Summary
BHF Appliances in Guimba became the first major retailer in the province to integrate solar energy across its operations. At a time when commercial solar adoption was still limited, this move reflected strategic cost management rather than trend-following. With retail loads dominated by daytime air conditioning, lighting, and display equipment, the energy profile was well-suited for solar offset.
The principal challenge was regulatory. This installation became the first in the province to secure full approval under net metering commercial solar energy systems. Close coordination with the local utility ensured compliance, export authorization, and long-term financial viability.
The system has since operated reliably with minimal intervention, delivering consistent savings across business cycles. For BHF, solar was not a branding exercise but a board-level strategy to reduce tariff exposure and strengthen operational resilience. Early adoption has positioned the company as both cost-aware and forward-thinking within Northern Luzon’s competitive retail environment.
