CK Hog Farm
- Hog Grow-out Farm with Off-Grid Option
- System Size: 50.22 kWp
- Completion: 17-Aug-2018
- Tanay, Rizal, Philippines
Project Summary
The CK Hog Farm project demonstrates that solar energy has the potential to supplement farming activities that require high and constant energy. Since it is an existing large hog breeding farm with an already installed biogas system, the issue was how to control the interconnection and synchronization of two renewable sources. This required a close electrical design to provide stability, safety and maximum utilization of both streams of energy. Despite the technical aspects of the installation, it was installed successfully, and the farm currently enjoys the dual-source solution to reduce grid reliance. Daytime production of the solar system is clean, and the biogas plant remains active around the clock. This mix can translate into lower energy bills, increased robustness, and a feasible model for integrating diversified renewable systems into the Philippine agricultural industry for CK Hog Farm.
