Don Jose Poultry Farm
- Layer & Broiler Poultry Complex Solar System
- System Size: 75.24 kWp
- Completion: 26-Jun-2024
Project Summary
The buildings owned by Don Jose include layer and broiler houses, and this fact demands various patterns of electricity on the same premises. Layers require long, continuous lighting and constant ventilation. Necessary airflow is required when broilers are nearing harvest weight. The farm had a grid-tied solar system installed, and sub-arrays were to be installed around the roofs, taking into account their shading profile. The cable runs were maintained to a minimum to minimize losses. Export control and net metering were established building by building to ensure that compliance was easy. The system takes up a significant portion of daytime demand in both operations today. That liberates money to fund flock health and personnel, and it prevents the impact of tariff raises. Don Jose can now enjoy a cleaner and more stable cost base, and the houses remain cool and well-lit. It is a simple victory of production, animal welfare, and long-term planning.
