Jorisan Farm
- Mid-scale Poultry Facility
- System Size: 140.00 kWp
- Completion: 3-Mar-2022
- Caba, La Union, Philippines
Project Summary
Jorisan Poultry Farm belongs to a network of developing agricultural facilities focused on the stable and sustainable production of chicken. High power consumption on the farm was primarily due to fans, tunnel ventilation, and an evaporative cooling pad, which are used most frequently during the day. Solaren provided a grid-tied solar solution that should suit these loads, with string layouts aimed at optimizing roof space and minimizing shading. Export controls were introduced to prevent expensive backfeed problems, in which compliance by the local utility was easily achieved. The system has been able to deliver savings and reliable performance since the time of its commissioning, and even with variations in demand between seasons. Solar energy has proved to be a viable investment in the case of Jorisan: stabilizing prices, animal welfare, and the future of the farm as a reliable supplier to the local food chain.
