Laoang Poultry Farm
- Large-Scale Poultry House Renewable Energy System
- System Size: 54.72 kWp
- Completion: 29-Jun-2024
- Sta Ignacia, Tarlac, Philippines
Project Summary
Laoang has big houses in which air movement increases with the growth of birds. That curve was reflected on the electric bill. Solar transformed the everyday expenses. To reduce losses, the farm put in place a grid-tied system with long roofs that were arranged in even spacing and straight cable paths. Inverters also set power factor targets accepted by the utility to prevent fines. With the intense sun, the solar carry is so intense that the grid draw goes down to a sinker. Within a complete cycle, there are more stable and reduced costs and more control of margins in the farm. The houses are cooled down, the lights are not switched off, and the functioning has a smaller footprint. The experience provided by Laoang demonstrates that even large broiler houses can operate a basic solar plan that will bring a daily profit.
