Murray Residence
- Grid-Tied Solar Home with Full Offset
- System Size: 7.00 kWp
- Completion: 20-Jan-2022
- Mexico, Pampanga, Philippines
Project Summary
The Murray residence sits in Mexico, Pampanga, with Mount Arayat as its backdrop, one of the more distinctive addresses in Central Luzon. Since January 2022, it has also been one of the more energy-independent ones.
The grid-tied system was sized to exceed daytime demand, with surplus generation exported as net metering credit that offsets night-time consumption. The result has been consistent zero billing since commissioning, with the original capital investment fully recovered by mid-2025.
From this point forward, every peso saved goes back to the household rather than the utility. On a fully German-engineered system running SMA Germany SB6.0 inverter technology and Trina Solar Vertex modules, monitored via SMA ennexOS, that saving is predictable and reliable across the remaining system life.
Three and a half years to payback, then pure return. For a home in a location this scenic, the electricity bill is one thing that no longer requires any attention at all.
For homeowners weighing the long-term case, residential solar ROI looks very different once the capital has been returned and the savings simply continue.
