New World Trading
- Supermarket & Grocery Solar Site
- System Size: 20.79 kWp
- Completion: 30-May-2022
Project Summary
New World Trading is a high-traffic supermarket serving a steady daily customer base. Much like most retail food environments, its electricity demand is concentrated during business hours and driven by lighting, refrigeration, and air conditioning. These loads are continuous and non-negotiable. Product preservation and customer comfort depend on stable power.
The installation required careful attention to utility compliance, particularly in relation to the site’s multi-meter configuration. Roof space also had to be assessed properly to ensure maximum usable generation without compromising structural integrity or access. Rather than simply installing capacity, the system was carefully engineered to match the store’s daytime load profile and maximize on-site consumption under net metering rules.
Retail solar projects behave differently from industrial sites, and the economics depend on how daytime generation offsets operating demand. This broader commercial context is explored in more detail here.
The completed grid-tied system now significantly reduces exposure to rising daytime tariffs while maintaining full compliance with distribution utility requirements. New World Trading benefits from consistent clean energy production, predictable savings, and a system designed around how the business actually operates.
