Pearce Residence
- Multi-System Hybrid + Grid Solar Residence and Office. Zero Billing
- System Size: 50.00 kWp
- Completion: 1-Mar-2014
Project Summary
This residence represents one of the most advanced and long-running residential energy systems in Solaren’s portfolio. Developed progressively over more than a decade, the installation combines grid-tied solar generation with a large-scale hybrid battery system, allowing both technologies to complement each other as household demand evolved over time.
The system now incorporates close to 300 kWh of battery storage capacity, supporting substantial daytime and night-time electrical loads. Without renewable energy, annual consumption would approach 96,000 kWh, placing the property among the highest residential energy users. Through careful system expansion and integration, electricity bills have been effectively zero for an extended period.
Surplus generation accumulated through net metering is now being redirected to support electric vehicle charging, reducing reliance on diesel- and fuel-powered transport and extending the value of the system beyond the home. Load balancing between solar generation, battery storage, and grid interaction allows the residence to operate with a high level of energy independence while maintaining full reliability.
This project reflects the principles outlined in ‘Why a solar power system is a smart choice,’ demonstrating how long-term planning and scalable design can deliver sustained cost reduction and energy control.
