- Maliwalo, Tarlac City, Philippines
Project Summary
This compact residential installation in Tarlac City was one of our earlier SMA-based systems and required careful engineering from the outset. The primary challenge was partial roof shading caused by nearby structures and trees. Detailed site analysis was carried out to determine optimal module placement, string configuration, and inverter loading to minimise mismatch losses. We selected high-efficiency bifacial glass-glass panels paired with German-engineered SMA inverters to maximise output per available square metre while maintaining long-term durability in local heat conditions.
A second challenge involved identifying the correct interconnection point and securing utility approval at a time when residential net metering was still relatively new in the area. Through precise documentation and close coordination with the distribution utility, approval was obtained under the framework outlined in Net Metering for Commercial Solar Energy Systems.
Today, many years after commissioning, the system continues to operate reliably with stable daily offset and consistent performance. It remains a strong example of disciplined design, proper approvals, and engineering choices that protect long-term returns.
