Project Summary
Philippine Bobbin Corporation is a large factory within a PEZA zone located in Cavite that manufactures parts that are used in the operations of its parent company, which is Imperial Tobacco PLC, a global brand with international presence. Being a part of such an international group, the Cavite facility upholds high standards of efficiency, reliability, and compliance. It has one of the most significant continuous costs of electricity, which is influenced by its round-the-clock production line, climate control, and the accuracy of equipment. Solaren also designed and installed a grid-tied solar system that was large enough to sustain a significant fraction of the facility’s daytime load, which was under the utility requirement of the economic zone. The system has minimised the cost of operation, ensured stability of the operation, and has brought into focus the aspect of sustainability of the company. In the case of Philippine Bobbin, solar energy offers direct savings and alignment with world standards of responsible and progressive production.
