Philippine Bobbin Corporation (Imperial Tobacco PLC)
- Tobacco Manufacturing Plant
- System Size: 483.96 kWp
- Completion: 11-Apr-2024
Project Summary
Philippine Bobbin Corporation operates within a PEZA economic zone in Cavite as a manufacturing subsidiary of Imperial Tobacco PLC, one of the world’s largest tobacco groups. The facility runs continuous production lines, precision equipment, and climate control across a plant that draws over 411 kW at peak daytime load — a scale that places it among the most demanding industrial installations Solaren has completed.
Operating within a PEZA zone under an international parent company introduces compliance requirements that go beyond standard utility connection. The system had to meet the technical and regulatory specifications of the economic zone, align with Imperial Tobacco’s global standards for operational reliability and sustainability reporting, and integrate without any disruption to a production environment where downtime carries real consequences.
Solaren designed and installed a 483.96 kWp grid-tied array using four SMA Germany STP110 CORE2 inverters and Sunova Solar bifacial modules, sized to offset a substantial portion of the facility’s daytime consumption within those constraints. The system has been generating over 713,000 kWh annually since commissioning in April 2024, delivering nearly ₱7.9 million in yearly savings on a 4.3 year payback.
For multinational manufacturing facilities operating under PEZA and international compliance frameworks, industrial solar power systems in the Philippines need to be delivered to a standard the parent company can stand behind.
