BIR RR4
- Government Revenue Region IV Facility
- System Size: 398.56 kWp
- Completion: 16-Feb-2014
Project Summary
The BIR RR4 Regional Complex serves as the revenue headquarters for the region, operating across multiple government buildings with varying occupancy patterns. Weekday demand is consistently high due to office operations, cooling systems, and public-facing services, while weekend usage drops significantly, creating an uneven and fragmented consumption profile across the site.
The core challenge was structural and regulatory. It would have been simpler to install a single centralized system, but after detailed strategy and engineering discussions with contractors and facility managers, Solaren recommended four separate net-metered systems, each capped at 100 kWp to comply with utility regulations. This resulted in a combined installed capacity of approximately 400 kWp. The tapping configuration presented technical complexities, requiring careful design and extensive coordination with SFELAPCO to secure approvals and ensure compliance.
The financial logic behind this multi-system approach reflects the strategy outlined in Commercial Solar Installation: How to Cut and Control Costs and Power Your Business, where correct system architecture drives measurable returns.
Today, the installation delivers substantial and predictable electricity savings while showcasing efficient, environmentally responsible infrastructure planning within a major public-sector facility.
